Kuwait: Al-Sabah family tree and analysis

Al-Sabah family tree previewOctogenarian Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah has strengthened his Al-Jaber branch’s hold on succession, and lined up his half-brother Sheikh Nawaf as the next emir. What is not clear is who will be crown prince after Nayef, as the different branches of the ruling family position themselves for another likely battle over succession.

Originally publised in an October 2013 issue of GSN, this report includes a two and half page analysis article and a one-page family tree showing the key players and relationships between the main branches of the Al-Sabah family.
