Continuing the war of words and boats between the neighbours, former Bahraini foreign minister Sheikh Khalid Bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa issued a strongly-worded attack against Qatar in a series of tweets on 12 February. The Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) had “faced many challenges and obstacles that threatened it and harmed the historical fraternal relations between its countries,” he said. Khalid went on to list a number of incidents, including what he called a Qatari “attack” on the island of Fasht Al-Dibal in 1986.
