Bahrain: Windsor horse show links in the spotlight

King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa’s patronage of the Royal Windsor Horse Show has led to organisers HPower Group agreeing to adopt a human rights policy, following a complaint by the Bahrain Institute for Rights and Democracy (Bird). The complaint – made under the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)’s guidelines for multinational enterprises  – was submitted after Bird said Bahraini security forces had detained and threatened the relatives of three UK-based activists who had protested against King Hamad’s presence at the 2017 show.
