Cost of Qatar’s US lobbying campaign

Doha spent at least $18m with 33 different lobbying firms in the United States to shore up relations with Washington in the wake of the boycott led by Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, which began in June 2017, according to a Center for International Policy (CIP) report, written by Ben Freeman. Published on 13 May. it said Doha’s agents contacted more than two-thirds of all Congress members in 2018 and made more than 1,000 campaign contribut-ions totalling more than $1.2m.
