Kuwaiti history: Incomers in the emirate’s early days

In the early 1600s, a group of families and tribes, largely from the Al-Enezi tribal federation, immigrated from the Nadj region of Saudi Arabia to Kuwait. These early settlers formed the core of a political community that became the foundation of Kuwaiti politics and business – and remains relevant to this day.
