UAE: Abu Dhabi - Al-Nahyan family tree

13 February 2014
Revised February 2014, this abridged version of the Al-Nahayan family tree shows the line of succession through UAE founding president Sheikh Zayed. Each of his most prominent sons is listed along with their current position within government and the Al-Nahyan family. Also included is an article profiling the Bani Fatima - the six sons of Fatima Bint Mubarak Al-Kitbi, Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan’s most prominent wife. The Bani Fatima has long been a formidable group, and MBZ’s succession would seem to seal its rise. The other five full brothers are all in positions of considerable power, both in the political establishment, and also within the small group of powerful companies which dominate the economy. The tree and analysis were originally published in GSN Issue 963.
