Bahrain faces new tensions as King Hamad hands more power to son Nasser

Issue 1125 - 06 May 2021

This issue leads with a story relating to a fresh wave of protests which centred on conditions in Bahrain's Jaw prison pointing to a resumption of public tensions between the authorities and Shia opponents after a period of relative calm.

There is another featured story which focusses on efforts to end the Yemen conflict amid a wave of shuttle diplomacy though it is suggested that a ceasefire will not be a panacea for Riyadh’s long-term vulnerability on its southern border.

There is a map of Kuwait alongside its Risk management report.
