Published November 2022, this graphic includes two maps showing Bahrain in 1987 and 2022, illustrating the growth of built up areas and land reclamation schemes in the north and the Durrat Al-Bahrain archipelago in the southeast. Under a plan announced in November 2021, the government said it wanted to build five cities on newly-reclaimed islands by 2030.
