China’s President Xi comes to Riyadh promising non-interference and business deals across the region

The visit by Chinese President Xi Jinping to Riyadh underlined China's fast-growing profile with a trio of summits, with Saudi Arabia, the Gulf Co-operation Council states and the wider Arab world. It also gave Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman an opportunity to assert his position in the Arab world and to further test the potential to develop relations with China and reduce reliance on western partners.
