Doha and Riyadh cautiously develop ties with Syria’s new rulers

Qatar and Saudi Arabia have most active in trying to develop ties with the new Syrian leadership, with a flurry of meetings, aid and technical assistance, accompanied by wariness of the potential for further instability in the brave new world after Bashar Al-Assad.

Born in 1994, Sheikh Thani Bin Hamad Al-Thani is a younger son of former Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani with his third wife Sheikha Noura Bint Khalid Bin Hamad Al-Thani. His full brothers are Deputy Ruler Sheikh Abdullah, Sheikh Khalid and Sheikh Al-Qaqa. Read more
