The National Assembly approved a bill on 2 March allowing the government to spend an additional $500m on Eurofighter Typhoon jets, according to Agence France-Presse. The funds will be used for an advance purchase for the planes. It comes on top of a $10bn defence outlay approved by parliament in January. Oman and Saudi Arabia have previously bought Eurofighter aircraft.
