Kuwait: Eurofighter deal moving ahead

Issue 1011 - 04 Mar 2016 | 1 minute read

The National Assembly approved a bill on 2 March allowing the government to spend an additional $500m on Eurofighter Typhoon jets, according to Agence France-Presse. The funds will be used for an advance purchase for the planes. It comes on top of a $10bn defence outlay approved by parliament in January. Defence minister Sheikh Khaled Jarrah Al-Sabah said the signing of the deal to buy 28 Eurofighter jets was imminent, during a visit to Brussels on 11 February. Oman and Saudi Arabia have previously bought Eurofighter aircraft.
