Law shows that not all Qataris are equal

Qatar’s Nationality Law of 2005 sets out different tiers of citizenship. It states that Qatari nationals must have been resident in the country since 1930 and stayed until the Nationality Law of 1961 came into force. Non-Qataris can acquire nationality under certain criteria, including if they have been resident for 25 consecutive years and not absent from the country for more than two months a year.
