Saudi Arabia criticised for mass capital punishments

Riyadh came in for sustained international criticism after executing 81 people on 12 March, in the kingdom’s largest mass exercise of capital punishment since 2019. The European Union described the executions as representing “another worrying increase in the trend of using the death penalty in Saudi Arabia”.
