Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Bin Abdelaziz (MBS) launched a massive expansion of the Quba Mosque in Medina on 8 April, which will take it to 50,000m2 – ten times its existing area. On completion, the mosque will be able to accommodate 66,000 worshippers. The mosque is thought to be one of the first ever built (the Mosque of the Companions in Massawa, Eritrea vies for the title as ‘oldest mosque’).
