Saudi Arabia: Potential US deal

The US Department of State has approved a possible $2bn foreign military sale to Saudi Arabia for five Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) Block 40/45 Mission Computing Upgrade systems and associated equipment, training and logistical support. In a statement on 12 August, the department said the upgrades were a “continuation of efforts to maintain interoperability with US and coalition forces”. The principal contractor will be The Boeing Company in Kent, Washington.
