Saudi authorities try to counter growing criticism over PIF’s Jeddah demolition and redevelopment

At least 500,000 people will lose their homes, schools and mosques to make way for a multi-billion-dollar redevelopment scheme, in a programme led by Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman’s Public Investment Fund to demolish large swathes of the west coast city. Amid this human drama the authorities have been slow to offer compensation but local communities have been making a noise that is difficult to ignore.
