President Omar El Bashir eventually decided to decline his invitation to attend King Salman Bin Abdelaziz’s 21 May Arab-Islamic meeting with US President Trump in Riyadh, even though pressure on Sudan has eased significantly since outgoing President Barack Obama raised many eyebrows by easing sanctions in January and then intelligence-sharing and Gulf states’ good offices helped to leverage a ‘working’ relationship with the new administration.
