Tensions rachet up between Bahrain and Qatar

There was no let-up in tensions between Qatar and Bahrain in the run-up to the 5 January GCC summit. The brief detention in late November of two Bahraini patrol boats by Qatar’s Coast and Border Security, allegedly for straying uninvited into Qatari waters, has been followed by further complaints and critical comments by both sides.
