m

Role

Secretary of Iran's Expediency Discernment Council (2021–present)

Shaped by his experience in the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corp (IRGC), Mohammad Baqer Zolqadr brings cross-institutional expertise to the Expediency Discernment Council, which adjudicates on disputes between the parliament and the Guardian Council and also advises the supreme leader. Although Zolqadr has clashed with previous presidents, one of the regime’s hardliners is trusted by Rahbar (Supreme Leader) Ali Khamenei and enjoys a prominent position in Iranian politics.
