Bahrain: Negative outlook on rating

Credit ratings agency Standard & Poor’s (S&P) revised its outlook on Bahrain’s B+ rating to negative on 28 May, warning that the current pace of fiscal reform was too slow to stabilise the debt-to-GDP ratio over the next few years; the indicator rose to 130% last year, as the government tried to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic, up from 101% in 2019.
