Sultan Qaboos (b. 18 November 1940) comes from the Al- Busaidi dynasty, which was founded in the mid-18th century when Ahmed Al-Busaidi succeeded in expelling Persian forces from Muscat and the Omani coast, and proclaimed himself imam.
