As the conflict in Yemen continues unabated – despite promises from both sides to cease fire for a week to allow aid workers access (see main story) – the humanitarian situation unfolding across the country is dire. The United Nations (UN) has declared its highest level of emergency response (Level 3), an extraordinary measure that reflects the severity of the challenge facing the humanitarian community as it tries to respond to Yemen’s very great need.
