Saudi Arabia halted the execution of seven young men accused of armed robbery on 5 March, just hours before it was due to take place. The men were found guilty in 2009 of robbing a jewellery store in Asir in 2006, when many of them were still minors. Relatives and friends told Reuters that Asir governor Prince Faisal Bin Khalid had ordered a stay of execution while the royal court considered a request for a retrial.
