Kuwait awaits 25th anniversary

Issue 1004 - 12 Nov 2015 | 1 minute read

Kuwait celebrates the 25th anniversary of its liberation from occupation by Iraq on 24-28 February. A major celebration is expected, with the United States looking to commit substantial resources to marking arguably its finest hour in the region. US veterans’ groups are gearing up to mark a “forgotten war” (US casualties included 148 battle deaths, 145 non-battle deaths and 467 wounded in action). Allies, including Australia, Canada and the UK, also expect senior officials to attend events.
