It has been a particularly eventful August in the region, keeping Gulf leaders busy during GSN’s summer publishing break. As the conflict in Gaza raged on, numerous meetings and phone calls took place. Saudi King Abdullah Bin Abdelaziz and Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad spoke by telephone on 1 August, and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Zayed met both King Abdullah (in Jeddah) and Bahrain’s King Hamad Bin Isa (in Manama) on 3 August; the Qataris – seen as a conduit to communication with Hamas
