Moroccan overture towards Iran

Khalil Hachimi Idrissi, director-general of the official Moroccan news agency Maghreb Arab Presse (MAP), generated some speculation about shifting alliances when he visited Tehran to sign an agreement on the exchange of know-how and “work methodologies” with its Iranian counterpart the Islamic Republic News Agency (Irna). Hachimi – a sophisticated player judging from GSN’s occasional interactions with him – was quoted talking of a “fraternal visit” and “a message of opening towards human, political and cultural relations”.
