Muscat mediates between US and Houthis

Oman has been playing its traditional role as a mediator, bringing together representatives of the Houthi movement and US officials in an effort to advance diplomatic attempts to resolve the crisis in Yemen. On 23 May, Houthi spokesman Mohammed Abdul-Salam said he was part of a delegation going to Muscat to discuss the conflict with the government. Just over a week later, on 31 May, Yemen’s exiled government in Saudi Arabia told Reuters that senior Houthi officials were back in Oman to hold talks with the United States
