Oman: Galfar joint venture

Troubled Galfar Engineering and Contracting – whose managing director was forced to resign last month after being found guilty of paying bribes to government-owned Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) – has formed a joint venture with consultancy Mott MacDonald, which has been operating in Oman for 40 years. In a statement to the Muscat Securities Market on 4 February, Galfar said the two companies had finished registration formalities for a company that would pursue engineering, procurement and construction contracts in the oil and gas sector.
