Oman: Progress reported on offshore Block 50

Issue 1119 - 04 Feb 2021 | 1 minute read

A second Yumna field development well has been brought onstream on the offshore Block 50 – the first to produce off Oman’s east coast – according to a statement by operator and 100% equity-holder Masirah Oil Ltd (MOL) on 1 February. MOL is undertaking further drilling in the approximately 17,000km2 Gulf of Masirah concession, offshore of Duqm, and has begun upgrading its mobile offshore production unit, with a target of doubling processing capacity to 30,000 b/d before end-March. Yumna-2 began producing at an average 9,000 b/d of dry oil on 23 January, less than six weeks after it was spudded by the Shelf Drilling Tenacious jack-up rig.
