Qatar: Amna Bint Abdelaziz appoints new museum director

Issue 959 - 29 Nov 2013 | 1 minute read

Sheikha Amna Bint Abdelaziz Bin Jassim Al-Thani has been appointed director of the National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ), which is under construction. The Qatar Museums Authority (QMA), headed by the emir’s sister Sheikha Mayassa Bint Hamad Al-Thani, said on 26 November that Sheikha Amna will oversee the progress of the museum project and provide curatorial and managerial leadership. Sheikha Amna has been acting director of the Jean Nouvel-designed NMoQ since December 2012; she worked under the former NMoQ director Peggy Loar, who returned to the US after four years in the job.
