Qatar: Buying US radar system

Qatar looks set to buy an early warning radar system from the US, in a deal valued at $1.1bn. On 29 July, the US Defense Security Co-operation Agency said the Qatari government had requested a possible sale of an A/N FPS-132 Block 5 early warning radar, to include “prime mission equipment package, technical and support facilities, communication equipment, encryption devices, spare and repair parts, support and test equipment, publications and technical documentation, personnel training and training equipment, US government and contractor engineering, technical and logistics support services, and related elements of logistics and programme support”.
