Qatar: Doha’s man in Gaza uses his influence while he still can

The Qatar crisis has raised questions about the future of the emirate’s special envoy to Gaza Mohammed Al-Emadi. It has also deepened concern in the territory that a country that has been so supportive of Islamist Palestinian party Hamas may stop funding projects, Palestinian sources in Gaza have told GSN. Al-Emadi has been representing Qatari interests in Gaza since 2012, helping to co-ordinate Doha-funded reconstruction projects and other assistance which has added up to around $1bn since 2007; he has also acted as a go-between with the Palestinian Authority (PA) government in the West Bank.
