Qatar: Fahd Bin Abdullah sells mare and foal

Issue 972 - 21 Jun 2014 | 1 minute read

A mare called Crystal Gaze and her three-month-old colt, owned by Qatar’s Sheikh Fahd, a son of former prime minister Sheikh Abdullah Bin Khalifa, have sold at auction in London for £1.15m ($2m) – closer to £1.5m including premium and tax. The unnamed foal, bought by Michael Magnier of Coolmore stud, was sired by legendary Frankel, who was unbeaten on the flat in his 14-race career and retired to stud in 2012 (his fee is reportedly £125,000). Crystal Gaze is also currently in-foal to Frankel.
