Qatar: Father Emir in Greek land dispute

Issue 1026 - 23 Nov 2016 | 1 minute read

Greek media have reported that Father Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani is having problems with a land purchase made in 2014 on Zakynthos island. A hearing of a law suit brought by the Zakynthos Archdiocese against Pimana SA, the company that bought the land, was postponed for a third time despite Sheikh Hamad arriving for the scheduled hearing earlier this month. Pimana bought a 15km2 plot on Zakynthos; the diocese claims it owns 3km2 of the plot and the local municipality claims it owns 10,000-15,000m2.
