Qatar: HBJ immunity hearing

The London High Court heard on 11 January that former prime minister and foreign minister Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jabr Al-Thani (HBJ) cannot be sued by a senior member of the Al-Attiyah family because he is protected by diplomatic immunity. His lawyers Carter-Ruck say HBJ enjoys diplomatic status due to his position as a minister counsellor at the Qatari embassy in London.
