Sheikh Joaan Bin Hamad Al-Thani, brother of Emir Sheikh Tamim, has been named in court documents in California in a case launched against the State of Qatar, Qatar Armed Forces (QAF) and the Ministry of Defence (MoD). In filings to the court in February, the claimant Tarek Fouad alleged Sheikh Joaan had benefited from payments from Waltham, Massachusetts-based Raytheon Company on work related to the acquisition for Qatar’s Joint Operations Command of a command, control, communications, computers and intelligence (C4I) system, known as the Falcon Project.
