Qatar: Mayassa Bint Hamad: Art queen

Qatar Museums Authority (QMA) head Sheikha Mayassa Bint Hamad Al-Thani has been named the most powerful figure in the art world by the London-based ArtReview magazine’s 2013 Power 100. The magazine said that, when it comes to buying power, Sheikha Mayassa is “way ahead of the competition” and that, whenever she is in town, “everyone from government ministers to mayors queue up to pay their respects – as British culture minister Ed Vaizey and London mayor Boris Johnson did during her recent visit to the capital”
