High on the list of demands made on Doha by Saudi Arabia and the UAE to settle their long-running dispute is that Turkish forces deployed in Qatar be withdrawn. Their antipathy towards Ankara has been heightened by Turkish activity in Libya, Syria and Azerbaijan. This has been strengthened by a social media campaign in Saudi Arabia and other GCC states calling for a boycott of Turkish goods – an idea which has been prompted at times by Al-Saud family members.
