Qatar: On the verge of F1 deal

President of the Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation Nasser Bin Khalifa Al-Attiyah has said Qatar is just a couple of steps away from signing a deal to host a Formula 1 race, something the emirate has been seeking for some time. “We are about to sign contracts to organise a Formula 1 race,” Attiyah told French news agency AFP on 8 February. “We have completed all the steps and there are only a few details before the official signature.” Qatar’s desire to hold a Grand Prix has reportedly been held up by Bahraini objections; Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone has been quoted as saying he has an agreement with Manama
