Saudi Arabia: CITC awards MVNO licences

The Communication and Information Technology Commission has chosen three consortia to win mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) licences, as it moves to liberalise the sector. In a statement on 23 June, the commission said it had selected Dubai-based Axiom Mobile, which will launch an MVNO on Zain Saudi’s network, Virgin Mobile Middle East and Africa, which will launch on Saudi Telecom Company’s network, and Jawraa Lebara, which has joined with host service provider Etihad Etisalat.
