Chief of royal protocol Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Al- Tobaishi was removed from his position on 3 May; his replacement as acting chief is Abdelaziz Al-Aqeeli. The official announcement did not use the usual euphemistic vocabulary ‘removed upon his request’; the absence of such language has attracted some attention from the Saudi public.
