Saudi Arabia to push for more taxation, but no representation

The National Transformation Plan (NTP), unveiled on 7 June, helped to flesh out some of the broad aims in the recently published Vision 2030 programme, driven by Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman (MBS). But as is often the case, more details have prompted more questions, particularly about what the fundamental reshaping of the Saudi economy might mean for nationals and expatriates and for local and international businesses. A key issue is the amount of taxation that might be imposed, and who will pay it. Government ministers have been assiduous in their insistence that ordinary Saudis have nothing to fear.
