Saudi Arabia: Recession fears loom

Saudi Arabia is at risk of falling into recession, after official data showed a contraction in Q1 2017 as a result of oil production cuts. (Recessions are generally defined as two consecutive quarters of economic decline.) The economy shrank by 0.5% year-on-year in Q1 17, compared to growth of 1.2% in Q4 16.
