Saudi Arabia: Women ‘allowed to ride bicycles’

Saudi Arabia appears to have lifted restrictions on women riding bicycles – as long as they are not going anywhere. The Al-Yawm newspaper quoted a source “familiar with the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice” as saying women will now be allowed to ride bikes in certain recreational areas, and may even “enjoy their time”, as long as they are fully covered and accompanied by a male relative.
