UAE: Final tests on ‘drone boats’

Abu Dhabi-based Al Seer Marine is completing final tests on ground-breaking unmanned surface vessels (USVs) designed for patrols and surveillance. Resembling a cross between a boat and a stealth fighter, the ‘Eclipse’ USVs – unveiled at the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX) in Abu Dhabi in February – are expected to be finished by the end of August. The Oscar-class vessel is 11 metres long and capable of speeds of up to 50 knots.
