UAE: Idex military jamboree highlights growth of local and Chinese suppliers

The International Defence Exhibition and Conference (Idex) event ran from 19-23 February and included a naval element, Navdex 2017. Activity was greatest early on, with some 21 deals signed on the first day, with a collective value of Dh4.4bn ($1.2bn), followed by Dh6.9bn on day two. Dh4.1bn-worth of deals were announced on day three, Dh3.4bn on day four and Dh344m on day five. Overall, there were a total of 90 deals worth a collective Dh19bn. The last edition two years earlier had drawn Dh18.3bn worth of deals.
