UAE: Nahyan Bin Mubarak hosts cardinal

Issue 995 - 19 Jun 2015 | 1 minute read

Federal minister of culture, youth and community development Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al-Nahyan joined Vatican secretary of state Cardinal Pietro Parolin and other church leaders to inaugurate Abu Dhabi’s second Catholic place of worship on 11 June. The 1,200-seat St Paul’s Church has been built on 4.56km2 of land granted by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan in the Musaffah industrial area. Services there will allow perhaps 60,000-70,000 Abu Dhabi residents among the UAE’s estimated 900,000 Catholics to avoid long journeys to St Joseph’s Cathedral in Al-Mushrif.
