Prince Faisal Bin Salman was governor of Medina province from January 2013 until his sudden removal from the position in December 2023, when he was replaced by Prince Salman Bin Sultan. Faisal was then appointed chairman of the King Abdelaziz Foundation for Research and Archives (Darah) and the King Fahd National Library, institutions set up in the 1970s and 1980s respectively.
