Prince Khalid Bin Salman has steadily gathered influence as the Bin Salman clan consolidated its power across the kingdom’s political and economic arenas. Khalid rose through a military career to become ambassador to Washington and then deputy defence minister – with an important role in the Yemen conflict – before replacing his brother, Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman (MBS) as head of the Ministry of Defence (MoD).
