UAE foreign affairs and international co-operation minister Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan (ABZ) made a surprise trip to Damascus on 9 November for talks with President Bashar Al-Assad. It was the most significant visit by a UAE official since the Syrian civil war began in 2011.
